EASY HOMEMADE GARLIC BREAD 2 WAYS

Golden, buttery and irresistibly aromatic

This classic garlic bread is simple to make yet full of flavour. Rich butter, fragrant garlic and dried oregano soak into a crisp baguette, creating the perfect accompaniment to pasta, soups or salads. So quick and satisfying to prepare, it’s a version you’ll return to again and again— far surpassing anything store-bought.

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 baguette
  • 100 g butter (approx. 7 tbsp), softened
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp organic dried oregano
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)

Method – Way 1: Classic Wrapped Garlic Bread

Soft inside, buttery and infused

Preheat the oven
Preheat oven to 180°C.

Prepare the garlic butter
In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, oregano and salt. Mix until smooth.

Slice the bread
Cut the baguette into slices, about 2–3 cm thick (leave the base intact if preferred).

Spread the butter
Generously spread the garlic butter between each slice, ensuring it seeps into all the crevices.

Bake
Wrap loosely in foil and bake for 10–12 minutes until heated through.
Open the foil and bake for a further 3–5 minutes for a light golden finish.

Serve
Serve warm and soft with a rich, buttery centre.

Method – Way 2: Open Toasted Garlic Bread

Crispy, golden and more rustic

Preheat the oven
Preheat oven to 200°C.

Prepare the bread
Slice the baguette in half lengthways or into individual slices.

Assemble directly
Spread softened butter onto the cut sides of the bread.
Sprinkle over minced garlic, oregano and salt evenly.

Bake uncovered
Place on a baking tray and bake uncovered for 8–12 minutes, or until golden, crisp and slightly caramelised around the edges.

Serve
Serve immediately for a crisp, toasted texture.

Optional Additions

  • Swap the oregano for Italian herbs for a more complex flavour
  • Sprinkle with grated cheese before baking
  • Add chopped parsley for freshness
  • Finish with a light drizzle of olive oil

Tip

Using softened (not melted) butter ensures it spreads evenly and absorbs into the bread, delivering maximum flavour in every bite.
